The Pursuit of Happyness is a drama film. The film takes some liberties with Gardner’s actual story. Will Smith as Chris Gardner and Smith’s real-life son Jaden Chrisptopher Syre Smith as Gardner’s son Christopher.
In the story, however, some are differences between the film and true events. For instance, Linda and the Rubik’s cube never happened. Gardner’s internship was paid a $1000 monthly, but he says "there was no salary" in the movie, etc.
The story start with a man who name is called Chris, a portable bone-density scanner’s salesman that he eventually finds extremely difficult to sell this equipment, because of it unnecessary, luxuries and expensive. Due to short of money and financial pressure, Linda decides to leave him and their five years old son. Chris has been a single father to take care of his son and life expense. One day, Chris meets a well off man who is a successful stock broker on the street; he makes a decision to be a stock broker. Although he has no high education, but his math skill makes him easy to solve a Rubik’s Cube in a short amount of time, impressing the person who is in charge of the intern hiring process, to the point that he arranges Chris an interview. At the six-month internship program, without salary and only one intern out of the twenty in the program will be chosen to become a full-time paid employee. Chris is determined to be that one. Meanwhile Chris uses money up, so he and his son are evicted from the motel, and spend the night in a BART station public restroom. Nevertheless, Chris still attend morning training program and every evening after work he picks Christopher up then take the bus across town, stand in line with the other homeless people for their shelter. Christopher of course does not like the situation, but he is understanding, and still loves his father. In the end, Gardner's hard work pays off: he is awarded a full-time job and went on to become a highly successful stock broker.
The film attracting me is how to brave confront adverse circumstances and never to give up. Needless to say, in real world, the most people may think that life is difficult. The movie is not only tells us an actual story but also to indicate that in spite of the character encountered how great difficulties in life is, yet he tried his best to solve problems in the extremely awful situation. He won’t abandon any chances when opportunities knock the door so he becomes a successful stock broker. I was inspired by his spirit.
